Mountaineering Expeditions to Pakistan's Peaks are slowing
growing up, so far 15 expeditions applied for different peaks in
Pakistan. Government of Pakistan declare 2007 as Visit Pakistan Year and
continuing discounts 50% for Karakoram mountains and Baltoro region, 90%
discount for Ghizar, Gilgit and Chitral region, 95% discount for
climbing Peaks in winter.
Among the climbing expeditions are;
Ms. Patricia Deavoli from New Zealand will make women's first
ascent of Bekka Brakai Chhok 6940m peak, Mr. Gluseppe Pompili leading a 9
members team for K2 and Broad Peak, Mr. Maxime Turgeon and his friend only
two people again applied (last year he and his team was refused permit
for K6) for permit to climb K6. Hopefully he will get permit this year as
assured by tourism office in Islamabad, Mr. Aristove Lvan applied for K2 and
Broad Peak with 15 members team, A Japanese Spantik Peak expedition led by
Mr. Fujimoto Noboru with three members is only on the list, Korean Dynamic
Busan K2 Expedition with 7 members are also on the list led by Mr. Hong Bo
Seong, Then a small 3 members Canadian team will be trying their luck on
Kunyang Chhish main, and Kunyang Chhish East both above 7000m peaks, Steven
House a prominent name in mountain world with two other climbers is again
applied for K6 he was also refused last summer for the same peak also in the
list is Mr. Steven Swenson another prominent name for Link Sar and K13. A
big expedition around 35 members is also on his way to Broad Peak and K2 led
by Mr Goerfried Goeschl from Austria called the Austrian International Broad
Peak Golden Jubilee and K2 Expedition 2007. Mr. Jorge Egocheaga Rodriguez
from Spain climbed 7 8000m peaks is dreaming for K2 this year. We Jasmine
