Six team members have 50 Mt.
Everest summits between them!
The SuperSherpas Expedtion
summit team of world record holders Apa Sherpa (16 summits of Mt. Everest) and
Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa (fastest ascent in 10 hours 56 minutes and 46 seconds) have
named their support team. The additional members are:
Ang Pasang Sherpa – Ang
Pasang, who lives in Thame with his wife and three children, has 6 Everest
summits, his first on Bob Hoffman's Everest expedition in 1998 (5/20/1998).
Next he summited Everest on May 18, 2000 with the Sherpa Women's expedition.
His third summit was on the NFB Everest expedition on May 25, 2001. All
Summits were via the standard south east ridge route. He has also had 1 summit
of Lhotse. Ang Pasang is from Namche-7, Thame, Solukhumbu. He is Apa’s wife’s
(Yangjn) brother. Ang Pasang Sherpa is 40 years old.
Arita Sherpa – Arita is also
from the village of Thame and is Apa’s younger brother. Arita is 44 years old
and lives with his wife and two children. He has summited Everest 7 times.
Pasang Tharke Sherpa – Pasang
is in the process of joining the expedition. He has reached the summit of Mt.
Everest 3 times. His expeditions of note are: 2000 – Environmental climb of
Evererst with the USA team, the 2001 Japanese team, the 2002 International
Team, the 2003 American team, the 2005 Spanish team, and in 2006 the British
Tibet team.
Dawa Nuru Sherpa – Dawa Nuru
is Lhakpa Gelu’s younger brother and has summited Mt. Everest 6 times. His
home is in Solu Khari Khola. His climbs of note are: the 1997 British Everest
team, the 1999 British Everest team, the 2000 Canadian Everest team, the 2001
USA Everest team, the 2003 USA Everest team, the 2004 Discovery Everest team,
the 2005 Japanese Everest team, and the 2006 Japanese Everest team. Dawa Nuru
is 29 years old.
The support team is
responsible for setting camps and fixing ropes above Base Camp.
The mission of the
SuperSherpa expedition is to highlight the extraordinary athletic abilities of
the Sherpa people, the beauty of Nepal, and bring to light the Sherpa culture
and the untold story of their contributions to extreme altitude climbing.

A cold
weather, high altitude double boot for extreme conditions The Olympus
