  NEWS FROM ANDALUCIA MAKALU EXPEDITION

Chukung, April 20, 2008

The entire group is in Chukung at 4,739 meters of altitude.  This little town will be the last for us in several days, although for the moment it will be used as base camp to climb Imja Set.

Some of the Spanish expeditions on the Khumbu valley met until yesterday.  Our friend Lina and two Catalan friends and the Military expedition went on to Periche and we stayed in Dingboche.

The expedition is going along well with no important inconveniences, although some porters are late because of the large amount of expeditions that are going to Everest, maybe some 70 groups.  Some sore throat for Jorge and Rober, but nothing else.

In the next three days we will try to reach the summit of Imja Set and tomorrow we will go to C1, to acclimatize and to carry some materials, to attempt the summit on the 19.  We will inform you about the progress of the ascent after the attempt.
