Now they have made history in Antarctic! Dr Clare O'Leary has become the first Irish woman to walk to the South Pole. The 1,100km trek on the first all Irish expedition, led by Pat Falvey Falvey, started on November 8. Dr. Clare O'Leary became the first Irish woman to reach the highest point on Earth and also the first Irish woman to complete the Seven Summits.
