Oath taking ceremony was held at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad on
Feb 20, 2009 at 0730 pm. Mr. Atta ur Rahman - Federal Ministry for Tourism
was the chief guest on this occasion. Among other guests were Secretary
Tourism, Managing Director PTDC and other high officials of the Ministry of
Tourism. Large number of the Tour Operators from all over the country also
participated in the event. The ceremony started with Tilawat of holy Quran
by Mr. Kaiser Khan one of the Executive member and followed by Fateha for
the victims of D.I Khan Blast. After the Fateha the Chief guest was invited
to take oath from the newly elected Executive Body of Pakistan Association
of Tour Operators (PATO). Following took oath as office bearers.

After this President PATO was invited to speak on the
occasion. While addressing the gathering Amjad Ayub - President PATO thanked
minister for his valuable time out his busy schedule. He also welcomed him
to Ministry of Tourism as Federal Minister and assured him of the full
support and professional input on behalf of PATO. He also praised his
efforts in the government to bring peace in militancy-ridden areas such Swat
and Tribal Areas. Mr. Amjad also highlighted the importance of Tourism for
the soft image of the country, which is the need of the hour. He also spoke
on wide range of issues and made suggestions to promote tourism for the
country
The chief Guest speaking on the occasion showed his full
support for the development of tourism in Pakistan. In brief chief guest
also pointed out the on going situation in Peshawar and Swat which effected
both inbound and outbound tourism badly. He highlighted many tourism
attractions and asked the newly elcted-body to work closely with state
machinery to bring the tourist back to the country. He also promised of his
full support to Association. He praised the role of private sector for the
promotion of the tourism sector.
In the end a dinner was hosted by Pearl Tours - Hashoo Group.
