Winter 2009 Makalu Summit

Denis Urubko with Simone Moro have reportedly summited Makalu. Denis of course attempted Makalu earlier in Winter. The great Jean-Christophe Lafaille disappeared on January 27th 2006 while attempted solo the Summit, it is still unknown if he made it. Denis Urubko has several interesting and good climbs to his name..

Makalu, the 5th highest peak in the world, is located in the heart of the eastern Himalayas. The Mountain was first climbed by the French on May 15th, 1955 by J. Couzy and  L. Terrary.
