Totmianin's group ascended above Camp 2, but came back down to Base camp with
the strong wind. , but the strong wind forced them to descend to BC. Vladimir
Belous left the expedition with frostbite...

Considered to be the toughest team in the mountaineering world, the Russian K2
Winter Expedition led by Mr. Viktor Kozlov, a Veteran mountaineer and
explorer, the team consists of experience 16 mountaineers with a long list of
high achievements collectively as well as individually each climbers having 2
or 3 8000m to his name. The team together always attempts the hardest, never
climbed or straight climbs on world's highest peaks. Their 1st attempt was
Lhotse where they climbed direct route, second was Mountain Everest, World
tallest, again direct and new route successfully and back in 2004 their target
was K2's West Wall, a straight direct walk where they successfully reached the
summit on a new route.
Now coming back to the savage mountain, the team under leadership of Mr.
Viktar Kozlov wishes to make yet another record of climbing world's toughest
mountain in harsh winter. They plan to climb Cesen Route up-to 7560m not plan
to climb shoulder from there yet make a new route from this point to the top
at 8611m. They have calculated few good weather window around January end and
first week of February with the help of their weather forecast partner in
Austria when they are plan to make summit bid.
Team arrive in Islamabad on 10 December, 2011 and today they have briefing
session plus press conference at Alpine Club of Pakistan with Secretary ACP
Mr. Abu Zafar. The team is leaving Islamabad for Skardu where they are plan to
spend some days around Sadpara Mountains for acclimatization and also plan to
take five or six trip of helicopters flights to transfer all their man and
material to the base camp where they are supported by 4 high altitude porters
to help and complete the base camp. They are plan to climb without O2 and also
plan to fix approximately 2 km rope
