Sunset on
Shishapangma from Base Camp |
Dispatch Three: Hello EverestNews.com. Here is Arnold
again, the leader of the SummitClimb Shishapangma Expedition 2006. Today
we had our second rest day in ABC. Yesterday was extremely windy on the
mountain and I hope all of Camp 1 is still there when we go back up. I'm
sure I have anchored the tents very well, but with this kind of storm you
never know. Tomorrow we'll check it out in Camp 1. Our plan
is to set up Camp 2 after that, then maybe even climb a little higher.
There are only two groups on the mountain left. The
Japanese group and us. So far there are no fixed ropes on any part of the
mountain, which means that the climbing is very hard. We will see what
we can do together with the Japanese team. Everybody is still healthy
and strong here and you will hear from us the next time when we are on the
mountain again. Bye bye
